Sarah Martin, BCBA

Sarah Martin is a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) who specializes in working with children, adolescents, and young adults with unique learning needs.

Her work involves developing individualized support plans, based on the theories of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA). Programs cover a wide range of skill areas including academic skills, social and communication skills, play skills, daily routines, transitions, school-readiness, and daily living skills. Sarah also works with adolescents and young adults as they transition into employment opportunities and  independent living.

SERVICE MODEL

Custom-designed support
plans developed to foster motivation, teach new skills, and help individuals of all
ages thrive in their home,
school, and community!

Taking a team approach, Sarah works closely with parents, siblings, therapists, teachers, employers, and other professionals to develop goals and implement programs. Her goal is to create plans that are feasible, functional, and successful!

......

INTIAL MEETING

The process begins with an initial meeting, which provides for an opportunity to discuss your family's needs. During this meeting, discussion will include the individual's preferences, skills, skill deficits, challenges, and most importantly, potential program goals. This meeting is also an opportunity for Sarah to tell you more about ABA, her process and to answer any questions that you have.

......

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT

......

ASSESSMENT

After our initial meeting, Sarah will conduct a formal assessment. This will involve observing and interacting with your child, using standardized assessment tools to measure his/her skills and skill deficits. The assessment process may be completed in one session, or across multiple sessions and the results help determine our initial program goals and which strategies will be used to accomplish them!

From the information gathered in the initial phases, an Individualized Support Plan (ISP) will be developed. The ISP will outline the intervention plan, including the strategies that will be implemented to teach your
child new skills and/or reduce challenging behaviours.

TRAINING

......

SUPERVISION

......

Behavioural interventions are most successful when everyone who interacts with the individual is on the same page! Sarah will work closely with everyone involved, and will provide the necessary training to ensure that the interventions are implemented as designed and proper data collection occurs.

Continuous supervision helps to ensure that progress is being made towards the program goals. Throughout the intervention, Sarah will communicate with you regularly, hold frequent team meetings, conduct observations and ongoing assessment, review program data, provide feedback, and revise the programs as necessary.

DIRECT THERAPY

......

Sarah believes that the best approach is for her to work directly with each individual on a regular basis. As such, she will also participate in the direct delivery of therapy, allowing her to gain a even better understanding of the individuals' motivation, strengths and skill deficits, as well as the progress of the program.
